MOB Group

The 40th Anniversary of the USS SPRUANCE (DD-963) was commemorated at Mobile, AL, and Jacksonville, FL.  The Mobile group visited the Ingalls Shipyard where it all began on September 20, 1975.  The shipyard gave veterans of the ship a hero's welcome with a presentation of the history of the yard, and progress since the SPRUANCE contract was awarded to Ingalls.  The emotion in the voices of the some of the speakers belied their pride in what they did to put the ship in the water, and what they continue to do for the Navy and defense of the US.  Pictured from left, first row, Paulette King, wife of Ken King, Ed Blakeslee, Jr., Bobby Davis, Scott Buterbaugh, Paul Morton, Rich Foxwell, Don Crepeau, Dave and Kath Foster.  Second row, from left, Mary Pfister, wife of Mark "Tony" Pfister (back row), Billy Beck, Rose Zwolinski, wife of Mark Zwolinski (back row), Curt Phillips, Joy Phillips, Cindi Thompson, friend of OJ Spooner, Dan Dirkson (white beard).  Back row, from left, Tony Pfister, Mark Zwolinski, Ken King, Gary Harral, Keith Kaldenberg, Robin Smith, Dave Spriggs, and Dave Carlson.  (photo courtesy of Ingalls Shipbuilding).
