TOUR informationGeneral — The map indicates the tour routes for boarding the SPRUANCE (DD-963) and Tarawa (LHA-1), as well as the locations of the refreshment stands, first aid centers, restrooms and information centers. Should you find the lines waiting to go aboard SPRUANCE too long, please proceed on to the Tarawa — or to the refreshment stands or entertainment tent. Due to the narrower passageways aboard, the destroyer tour might proceed at a slower pace than LHA-1. Entry on board ships — Entry aboard the DD 963 is by the gangway at the stern of the ship, while entry aboard the LHA will be via a barge into the stern will deck. No other entry aboard the ships will be allowed. For cleanliness and safety, no food or smoking can be allowed aboard ship during the tours. ship tours — The tour routes aboard both the DD and LHA have been planned to give you a good view of the ships. The routes are well marked with tour route arrows and guides are positioned throughout the ships. We ask that you proceed with caution watching out for low overheads and stepovers in the hatchways. Because of the large numbers of employees expected, we ask that you do not visit too long in the various compartments along the tour route. information centers — Should you desire additional information, need any help, or seek a lost family member, centers for this purpose are set up and manned at the entertainment tent and at the entrance to the tour area in the positions marked on the map. rest room and first aid — Rest rooms are located in the southwest and northeast corners of the Wetdock Building, as indicated on the map. First aid centers are located on each ship and by the Wetdock Building (see map). Additionally, Safety Engineers and Guards are stationed at gangways and aboard ship. |
