A two dimensional photo doesn't show how menacing the seas truly looked. I estimate a sea state of 7 or 8 on the Beaufort scale, which would be "near gale" or "gale" conditions. Winds were stiff, and the sea height averaged 20 feet, give or take. This photo was taken from the O1 level, below the starboard bridge wing.
